For many Cub Scouts, the Webelos years can be some of the toughest years of Cub Scouting. Yes, the adventures requirements are more challenging, however, this often isn't the source of frustration. Webelos can find themselves getting bored with Cub Scouting. After 3-4 years in Cub Scouting, many Webelos feel that they know what to expect in Cub Scouting, and perhaps find themselves chafing at the parent led Cub Scouting program. They may feel that Boy Scouting is going to be more of the same, and, after earning their Arrow of Light award, might decide to forgo scouting altogether.
However, Boy Scouts of America is different than the Cub Scouting program, mainly because Boy Scouts is a "scout led" program. This is where Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts can transition from parent led to youth led, where youth not much older than they, are in leadership positions and are planning and executing patrol meetings, hikes, and campouts.
Fortunately, Pack 128 Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts can begin their transition into Boy Scouting with Troop 27 in Sebastopol. Troop 27 and Pack 128 are working together to introduce Boy Scouting and positive older youth role models to the Cub Scouts while giving the older scouts in Troop 27 additional leadership responsibilities within Pack 128.
